ในงานประกาศรางวัลสายดนตรี Grammy Awards ครั้งที่ 65 ประจำปีนี้ มีเพิ่มรางวัลหมวดดนตรีประกอบวิดีโอเกมและสื่ออินเทอร์แอคทีฟ (Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media) เข้ามาเป็นครั้งแรก

เกมที่ได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศเป็นครั้งแรกคือ Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok โดยเป็นผลงานการแต่งเพลงของ Stephanie Economou ลองฟังตัวอย่างได้ท้ายข่าว หรืออัลบั้มเต็มจาก Spotify

เกมอื่นที่ถูกเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงมี 4 เกมคือ Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Call of Duty Vanguard, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy และ Old World

ถึงแม้ปีนี้เป็นปีแรกที่รางวัล Grammy ให้รางวัลดนตรีประกอบเกม แต่ก่อนหน้านี้เคยมีเพลง/ดนตรีจากเกมชนะรางวัล Grammy ในหมวดอื่นมาก่อนแล้ว เช่น เพลง Baba Yetu ของเกม Civilization IV ชนะรางวัลหมวด Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) เมื่อปี 2011, เพลงจากเกม Journey ถูกเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงหมวด Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media เมื่อปี 2012 (แต่ไม่ชนะ) และเพลงจากเกม Kirby Super Star ชนะรางวัล Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella เมื่อปี 2022
